Overview

Imagine an immense lake, sparkling in the sunlight, surrounded by mountains and volcanoes covered with blooming wildflowers… That’s exactly where we’ll take you to discover the lake’s secret towns by boat ride and a guided tour that’ll give you insight into the heart of the Mayan culture. The local Mayans say that Lake Atitlan holds unique energy fields that run through the area. Whether you feel the vibes or not, there’s no denying a lake is a special place.  

You’ll learn the day by day of the locals and the many chores and artisan products they make, from natural dying, herbal uses, chocolate procedures to painting techniques. In the end, we’ll see the adventure face of the lake by going to a Natural Reserve that holds the longest Canopy of Guatemala, enjoy its walking trails, lagoon beaches, and butterfly domes.

Itinerary

Day 1: Iximché Archeological Site

GUATEMALA CITY

We´ll start this adventurous tour by picking you up in your hotel lobby at 7:00 am. We´ll follow all biosecurity products for your wellbeing. We will make a comfort stop on the road so we can take breakfast at a nice restaurant and gain energy for the day. After breakfast, we´ll continue our way to Iximché Archeological Site. The arrival at Iximché will be around 10:30 am.

IXIMCHE ARCHEOLOGICAL SITE

Discover the history of this ancient Mesoamerican city. Later on, we are going to do a short tour of the museum, and then a walking tour inside the archeological site. At the same time, we can appreciate the Mayan ceremonies that still take place in this sacred site.

TECPAN

A delicious lunch will be taken in one of the restaurants close to the archeological site. You´ll be given some options to choose from.

PANAJACHEL, ATITLAN

After lunch, we'll move to Panajachel, the main city of Atitlan's lake where we’ll get stunning views of the volcanoes where you’ll have free time to wander around.

Getting to Panajachel will be a 2-hour trip and then we´ll explore this wonderful town and give you free time.

Day 2: Majesty of Atitlan’s Lake

LAKE ATITLAN

On our second day, we are going take breakfast in the hotel. After, get ready to take a boat ride to the surrounding villages.

SAN JUAN LA LAGUNA

First stop: San Juan la Laguna. We will take tours of chocolate, artisanal dying, and a painting workshop. We will also visit the Kiaqsiwan viewpoint. In this place, we are going to appreciate all the landscapes from the lake. Enjoy all the way up to the viewpoint and appreciate the paintings that represent the Mayan culture of this region. The paintings are captured in the stairways and the floor of the viewpoint.

SANTIAGO ATITLAN

After our visit to San Juan La Laguna, we´ll take a boat ride to get to Santiago Atitlán Town. Over there, we'll discover this magic town and at the same time, we'll be witnesses of Mayan syncretism; a mixture of two religions: Christianity and the Mayan beliefs. For that, we´ll visit Maximón, a deity where syncretism is evident.

CERRO TZANKUJIL

At the end of our adventurous day, it's time to go to Tzankujil Hill where you can jump and dive into the water of the lake or just relax in a hammock. During the evening we'll return to Panajachel Town.

Remember that your 3 meals of the day are included.

Day 3: Adrenaline and Nature

PANAJACHEL, ATITLAN

enjoy a delicious breakfast at the hotel and get ready to visit the Natural Reserve of Atitlán, a magical place that will close this 3-day circuit with a flourish.

PANAJACHEL, ATITLAN

The third day of the tour will be adrenaline and adventure as we visit a Natural Reserve of Atitlan where you will have direct contact with beautiful animals and enjoy a butterfly dome. It's time for the adventure, we are going to hike up through pretty trails to get to the biggest Canopy of Guatemala where you'll feel the green nature of Atitlan Lake. Afterward, we'll take lunch and then return to Guatemala City.

GUATEMALA CITY

It will take us 3 hours to get back to Guatemala City. We will make a comfort stop for you to go to the toilet and buy any hot or cold drink.
