Join us on a journey through the heart of the Belizean rainforest on this Monkey River Tour. This popular boat tour takes you along the winding Monkey River, where you will have the opportunity to see a variety of exotic wildlife, including monkeys, birds, and crocodiles.
As you journey down the river, your knowledgeable tour guide will share stories and information about the region’s plant and animal life, as well as the local culture and history.
The breathtaking natural beauty of the rainforest in the Monkey River Tour is perfect for nature lovers, adventure seekers, and anyone looking to experience the diverse culture and beauty of Belize.
Don’t miss this opportunity to explore the Monkey River and discover all that the Belizean rainforest has to offer.
When we pick you up from the lobby of your Placencia hotel, the start of this day packed with adventures will be imminent. At the dock, a motorized boat will be ready for us when we arrive. You will immediately start to notice the wildlife as we pass through a mangrove waterway.
After a pleasant trip through the channel appreciating birds, iguanas, and crocodiles, we will get to the Monkey River Village area. From this point, our pilot will start to slow down so that you can observe all the wildlife that is in plain sight but that we do not see because it is camouflaged.
We will arrive at a point where we will disembark and walk through part of the jungle. It will be at this point that you will get a closer look at the howler monkeys. Although these monkeys are little, they make a loud noise. They do this to keep other male howler monkeys out of their region and to defend their family.
We strongly advise you to bring binoculars or a high-resolution camera if you have the chance. All the animals can be captured in beautiful photographs in their natural settings for you to keep. Without a doubt, this is an encounter that broadens your perspective and inspires you to protect the species and their ecosystem.
We'll stop for a nice lunch after our nature tour so you can sample the cuisine in the area.
After that, we'll return to Placencia. If we're lucky, we might be able to spot some manatees, often known as sea cows, on our way back. This animal is really quite amiable.
