Overview

The City of Guatemala has been transferred several times throughout its history. In these 3 days, we will enjoy the historical and colonial city of Antigua Guatemala and the Contemporary city of Guatemala. Snap a unique photo in Altamira’s giant wooden hand & in Hobbitenango feel like a Hobbit. Afterward, we’ll walk around the colonial city of Antigua with its unique cobblestone streets, convents, churches, and more from the 15th century.  

Also, enjoy a full day of Agriculture. Discover the surrounding towns of Sacatepéquez, learn the handmade Mayan textile techniques, coffee plantations, macadamia farms, and a Wine tour through a 1900s Castle.  

On our way back to the city we’ll feel in contact with nature at a nearby hill with awesome trails, swings, and views of the city. During the evening we will be discovering the jewels of Guatemala City, the great green National Palace, and the Main Plaza. To finish our tour, we’ll move to Cayala City and take in the new modern city.

Itinerary

Day 1: Antigua Landmarks and Nature Parks

GUATEMALA CITY

We will pick you up at your hotel at 8:00 am and take a one-hour and a half road trip to get to our first stop: Altamira Nature Park.

ANTIGUA GUATEMALA

First stop: Altamira, where you can enjoy the landscape from the beautiful volcanoes and take the iconic photo at its giant wooden hand.

HOBBITENANGO

The next place is one of the most magical and small world kinds of fairy tales called Hobbitenango with small houses like the Hobbit Movie. We´ll take lunch in this place.

CERRO DE LA CRUZ

This is one of the most beautiful viewpoints of the Antigua Guatemala Valley. You can take great pictures of the colonial city, the 3 volcanoes surrounding the city and if you´re lucky enough, you´ll see one of those volcanoes erupting, Volcán de Fuego (Fire Volcano).

ANTIGUA GUATEMALA

Afterward, we'll move forward to a 400 years old town called Antigua Guatemala, and visit its iconic places with its unique cobblestone streets and colonial architecture during the afternoon. Then we´ll give you time to relax at the hotel.

Day 2: Culture, Coffee, Macadamia & Wine

CULTURAL CENTER OF LA AZOTEA

Guatemala is one of the biggest coffee producers in the world for its great quality. If you are a coffee lover this tour is right for you. Learn how is the process to make coffee in Guatemala at the end you can taste coffee too.

TEXTILE MUSEUM

It's time to go to “Aguas Calientes Town”, where we'll go to see how the community works in a regional textile workshop and learn about the process of making artisanal Guatemalan Mayan clothes. Mayan regional clothes have a deep significant meaning. Learn about them and see a great collection of special Mayan clothes.

ALOTENANGO

Later on, we’ll move to a Farm of Macadamia Nut. We´ll learn about the nut and all its benefits for human beings and the ecosystem. Have a delicious lunch after the tour. You can have a facial massage with macadamia oil if you´d like to.

WINE FARM – CHATEAU DEFAY

To finish the walking day, enhance your palate with a Wine Tour at a Famous vineyard. Taste the different wines that are produced in this 1900s castle.

ANTIGUA GUATEMALA

Have a special dinner and then feel free to explore the nightlife of the city.

Day 3: Nature and Jewels of the city

ALUX HILL

This is the last day of the tour! Relax and take breakfast at the hotel. After that, we are going to transfer to Alux hill; this is the reserve for wild woods animals, and trees too, enjoy the green nature and fresh air in this park. There are giant swings and stunning bird-eye views of Guatemala City.

GUATEMALA CITY

In the middle of the day, we are going to move to Guatemala City and visit the historical center. The central square is where the National Palace and the Cathedral are located, then we´ll go visiting El Carmen hill. In this place, you can watch most of the zones of the capital.

CAYALA CITY

And to close with a flourish, have a different perspective of Guatemala. We’ll visit the contemporary city of Cayala, a small city inside the big metropolis with unique Neoclassic architecture. Today you will see different perspectives of this small country but full of culture and history!
