The east side of Guatemala is a hot area with many eastern cowboy vibes. We will find a strong contrast in each department. We’ll start our tour with a day full of architecture by visiting iconic eastern towns, showing their devotion to Christianity. Esquipulas holds one of the most sacred Basilicas in Central America where we will be part of the east Guatemalan culture. Visit a sunflower plantation near the central plaza of Esquipulas and take stunning photos before resting in your hotel. Also, we’ll hike one of the 37 volcanoes in Guatemala, it’ll be 2 hours shadowed hike just to get to the summit and be mesmerized by a blue lagoon on its crater. On the last day, you’ll find yourself immersed in the southeast mountains by visiting one of the most beautiful natural waterfalls of approx. 50 meters high.

*Hotel: A double room will be provided for every 2 passengers. If you want a single room, you can upgrade the accommodation category by paying an additional fee. If you are traveling with children under the age of 11, the children will stay in the same room as their parents or guardians. If children are over 11 years old, adult price will be charged.

GUATEMALA CITY Join the ride to the eastern lands of Guatemala. We will pick you up at the lobby of your hotel and take a ride of 2 hours until we get to the restaurant on the road to have breakfast. After breakfast, we´ll continue our journey for 15 more minutes until we get to San Agustín Acasaguastlán Town and learn about the history of this lovely place.
We will drive for 3 more hours to get to Esquipulas Town. The landscapes are wonderful, you´ll have time to enjoy them and learn all the history behind this place considered sacred for lots of devoted people.
We’ll visit the iconic Basilica of Esquipulas, a sacred place for the Catholic congregation; it's a great form of expression of Guatemalan devotion as a Black Christ resides inside the Basilica. Then, visit one of the most beautiful sunflower plantations located just 10 minutes away from the central plaza. Take the most beautiful pictures and relax.
CHIQUIMULA DEPARTMENT We will take a delicious breakfast at the hotel prior to heading to Ipala Volcano. Pack your trekking boots, comfy shoes, and your swimsuit because you will need them all for today´s adventure.
Ipala Volcano will await you with an emerald-blueish lagoon in its crater. This 1 hour and a half hike will give you a breathtaking scenic route all the way to the top, and when you think it cannot get better... you will feel at peace with the nice humid forest weather of the crater lagoon. If you know how to swim, we encourage you to take your swimsuit and take advantage of the nice cold water. Lunch included.
Relax on the bus while getting back to the hotel. Have free time for yourself and get ready for dinner. Get ready for our last day! You´ll love the adventure of it.
CHIQUIMULA DEPARTMENT We´ll enjoy breakfast at the hotel and get ready for the last day of our tour.
To get to Los Amates Waterfall we´ll need to arrive at Santa María Ixhuatán Town, learn about it, and enjoy the view. Then, we´ll arrive at Recreation Center Las Marías, where we´ll change transportation to a 4WD vehicle. We´ll arrive at the waterfall around 1:00 pm. Los Amates is considered one of the highest and most beautiful waterfalls in Guatemala. In this full-day, culture, traditions, and gastronomy give a different perspective of Guatemala. Immerse yourself in nature with its exclusive humid tropical Savannah where, thanks to the warm climate, The Amates waterfall is an oasis to refresh your soul. Lunch included.
On our way back to Guatemala City, we´ll visit "The Slaves´ Bridge" (Puente Los Esclavos in Spanish). There´s a great story behind the name. Discover the story and the history behind this wonderful bridge. Then, we´ll continue our way back to the city until we leave you in your hotel in the city.
