If you are looking to experience the adrenaline of Guatemalan volcanoes without too much physical effort, this tour is for you.
This trip allows visitors to approach as much as possible to one of the Acatenango Volcano summits in a comfortable 4WD vehicle, and therefore you will only need to walk for approximately 1 and a half hours to the top.
Enjoy a camping-style meal at the top of the summit and appreciate the mesmerizing views. Don’t forget your camera and comfortable clothing to have the best time!

We will start this tour by picking you up at the lobby of your hotel in Antigua Guatemala. Make sure to bring all the things you need for the ascent and have the best attitude to have a great time!
The time to get to the base of Acatenango Volcano from Antigua is around 1 hour.
The 4WD vehicle will take us up to 80% of the road and the rest of the way we will go on foot. The car ride will take us around 60-90 minutes and we will appreciate different landscapes up. We will begin our hike to the summit once we arrive at the vehicle drop-off point. This is the last part of the volcano, the tip. This hike requires good physical condition both muscular and endurance as the path is quite steep and sandy. It will take us one and a half to two hours to walk to the top but the scenery will make it all worth it.
When we reach the volcano's summit, you will have free time to take pictures, and enjoy, and appreciate the breathtaking views. After this time we will start our walk to the base camp which is at the altitude where our 4x4 vehicle is parked.
Once we are there, you will have time to continue enjoying the fantastic view of Volcán de Fuego and the range of neighboring volcanoes. Also, you will have a camping-style meal. We will give you a sandwich and coffee if you go up to see the sunset. We will also give you a portion of banana bread.
You will recharge your energy to start our 40-minute walk to return to the 4WD vehicle which will take us back to Antigua Guatemala.
The last part of the tour will be to take you safe and sound back to your hotel or accommodation in Antigua. We hope you enjoy this experience from beginning to end.
