El Mirador is an archaeological site of the Late Preclassic period. During your visit, you will be able to observe several monumental structures much larger than the Jaguar pyramid in Tikal. La Data is one of those constructions, and it is the largest pyramid in the world by volume and the largest built by the Mayan civilization.
After many investigations and excavations, it was determined that this city was occupied from 1,000 BC until 150 AD, that its peak was from 500 to 300 BC, and that it was abandoned in 150 AD. There are many centuries of history here, and you will love knowing every detail with our expert guide.
A very curious fact is that the American actor Morgan Freeman visited El Mirador as part of his program “The Story of God”, in which he assures that if people want a truly historical experience, they should visit El Mirador in Petén. So come with us and enjoy this adventure with a team of professionals who will make this experience totally worth every penny.
Note: We need a minimum of 3 passengers to operate the tour. If there´s no enough passengers, you will be given the option to pay the difference or reschedule the date.
The tour is subject to weather conditions. Your security is a priority for us.
We will start this adventure by taking you to the lobby of your hotel in Flores Petén. The experience will begin at 8:30 a.m. Rest assured that we take all the necessary biosecurity measures before and during your visit. Your safety is the most important thing to us. After passing by you, we will go to the International Mayan Heliport to depart by helicopter to El Mirador.
We will depart from the Mayan International Heliport. This will be an experience like no other, and you will see the splendor of the Mayan rainforest. The trip will take about half an hour, and you will enjoy every minute. Few experiences offer you the opportunity to arrive by helicopter at an ancient Mayan city such as El Mirador. This is your chance.
When we arrive at the Mirador, you will find yourself surrounded by an immense and spectacular tropical jungle. We will walk around, and our tour guide will explain the wonders of this place, how its power arose, the history of its kings and its people, as well as how they built structures as gigantic as the ones you will see on your visit.
This experience will undoubtedly be unforgettable; there is a lot of archeology, history, and culture to know, without forgetting the flora and fauna of the place that coexist in complete harmony with what was once the largest kingdom in Guatemala, the Kan Kingdom, now known as El Mirador.
Recharging energy is important; we will bring lunch for everyone (a box lunch) to enjoy in the park. At around 3:30 pm, we will begin our return trip by helicopter. Bon appetit.
We will return to the Mayan International Heliport by helicopter, and the last stop on our tour will be to drop you off in the lobby of your hotel so you can rest. Thanks for traveling with us.
