Have you ever visited a Black Sand Beach? If not, this is your opportunity.
This tour will take you to the Guatemalan Pacific Coast where Monterrico is one of the most famous beaches in the country.
Take a boat ride through the 20 km-long Nature Reserve of coastal mangrove canals with avian and aquatic life. Later on, learn the artisanal fishing techniques with the locals and if lucky you’ll catch some fish for the community.
We will take you to a special area to plant a mangrove tree seed, you will learn and see the salt works up close and finally, you will relax by the sea while you have your lunch, enjoy the pool and watch the sunset.
In the turtle egg spawning season we will take you to an animal sanctuary. There, they take care of the turtle eggs until they spawn. Each of us will adopt a small turtle and release it to the seashore so that it can continue on its way. Without a doubt, this tour full of coastal activities is something you will never forget!

Either the trip starts from Guatemala City, or from Antigua Guatemala, both routes are scenic, and you´ll be able to see beautiful landscapes on your way to the Pacific Coast.
Upon our arrival at Monterrico black sand beach, a boat will be waiting for us. We will take a boat ride through the mangrove canal. During our boat ride, we`ll appreciate the beauty of nature, do birdwatching, practice artisanal fishing, and sow a mangrove tree seed. In the end, we`ll go to see the salt works and if we are in the turtle egg spawning season, we will release a baby turtle to the seashore.
After enjoying all the coastal activities, we will take you to one of the most beautiful resorts next to the beach. Here you can enjoy the pools, hammocks, and a delicious lunch. You will have time to walk along the seashore, enjoy the waves, and watch the sunset.
The city will be waiting for us after a 2-hour road trip from Monterrico Beach. Sit back and relax, we will leave you safe and sound back to your hotel in Guatemala City or Antigua.
