We´re going to start the tour at 6:30 am. We´ll pick you up in your hotel lobby in Cobán and take you to El Quetzal Biotope. You can sit back, relax and enjoy the road and the beautiful views. Rest assured that all our vehicles have been fully sanitized for your well-being. All our staff strictly follows the protocols dictated internationally and in addition to that, we provide you a personal biosecurity kit that includes a pocket-size hand sanitizer bottle and a disposable mask. Your safety has always been a priority for us.
Las Verapaces are popular for all their flora and fauna. This will be a short trip full of wonderful landscapes and greenery. Just sit back and enjoy the road. Also, remember that our certified tour guide will be with you at all times. On your way to El Quetzal Biotope, he/she can tell you about the curious facts of the region, the flora and fauna, the Mayan groups that live in that area and their traditions, and many more facts that will make you want to come back on your next vacation!
We´ll enjoy an appetizing breakfast in the Purulha town. We will get you a nice lunch box in the same restaurant so you can enjoy it later on while we are on the biotope.
At this point, we will arrive at El Quetzal Biotope. Before starting our tour, we want to take a few minutes to let you know about today´s itinerary and each activity we´ll be doing. You can feel free to ask any questions at any time and we´ll be glad to help.
The Biotope is a protected area of 1,044 hectares long dedicated to the conservation of wildlife, the rainforest but mainly El Quetzal which is in danger of extinction. Walking in the middle of nature in the rainforest, coexisting for a moment with 50 species of trees, and watching around 87 different species of birds is an experience that will be replaying in your mind over and over. This walking journey will take us to different small and medium-size waterfalls where you can drench in the crystal clear natural pools if you wish. For this tour we recommend you wearing neutral or nude colors and comfortable walking shoes. Also, keep in mind bringing mosquito repellent, and don´t forget your camera to record all the beautiful moments. Be part of this remarkable experience!
In the middle of our journey, we´ll enjoy a delicious lunch box while being on a viewpoint inside the biotope. You will have the chance to enjoy the view of the rain forest while relaxing, recovering energies and taking a nice lunch.
During our way back to your hotel, you have the chance to relax and take a nap, or maybe you prefer to take photos of the marvelous landscapes of Las Verapaces... you choose, the time is yours. The last point in our itinerary is to take you safe and sound in your hotel in Coban.
